Obama-messiah and his Democrat cohorts might as well be big corporate globalist Republican fatcats, as far as the illegal alien issue goes. 

 

After all, it has now been revealed that they have entered into secret negotiations to make sure special provisions of the so-called “stimulus” bill allow American workers to be displaced and illegal aliens to take their place.  And they have stripped the bill of House Republican language designed to stop the jobs money from going to illegals.

 

Yes, the “stimulus” bill will allow Big Business to use the stimulus money to hire illegal aliens rather than American workers. 

 

Ah…those winds of change are so refreshing, aren’t they?  All hail the Obama-messiah!

House Speaker Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Reid and the Obama White House were absolutely certain about one thing for the House/Senate negotiating committee on the Stimulus Bill:  There was to be no special restriction to keep illegal aliens from getting new jobs created by the bill at a cost of $250,000 to $500,000 each.  

 

The Democratic leadership of our federal government made it clear that there has been no change from eight years of a Republican White House that let the Chamber of Commerce call the shots on immigration.

 

Pelosi, Reid and Obama gave the U.S. Chamber of Commerce exactly what it wanted — freedom for unscruplous businesses to continue to hire illegal aliens at the same rate as in the past, and to use the hundreds of billions of Stimulus dollars to do it.

 

Rep. Calvert (R-Calif.) was the one who inserted E-Verify language into the Stimulus Bill in the House Appropriations Committee. Tonight, he stated the sad betrayal of the American workers. His words take on a partisan tone. As a studiously non-partisan organization, NumbersUSA is uncomfortable when issues are stated in partisan ways. But in this case, there is no question but that the national Democratic leadership sold out the interests of the American working man and woman.

 

Tonight, behind closed doors with no input from House Republicans, Speaker Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Reid crafted the so-called compromise on the stimulus bill.  What we now know is that while billions of American taxpayer dollars are going to be spent, there is no assurance that the jobs created will go to American workers.  The two amendments that had been accepted by the House Appropriations Committee were stripped without discussion or debate.

The House of Representatives had included two provisions in its Stimulus bill to make sure that the huge sums of money would create jobs only for legally authorized workers. One provision reauthorized the current voluntary E-Verify program which expires March 6. The other required local government or business receiving stimulus funds to run their new hires through the electronic 99.5%-accurate E-Verify system.  There were no publicly stated objections to this.

 

But the U.S. Senate repeatedly brushed aside Alabama Sen. Sessions’ efforts to introduce the same protections into its Stimulus bill.

 

When the House and Senate negotiators sat down, the leader of the House, Rep. Pelosi, tossed aside the will of the Members of the House of Representatives and did the bidding of the most unscrupulous businesses of America. 

 

The American people have repeatedly voiced their support for employment verification and yet we find that once again special interests win out.  The one candle in the darkness of this disastrous bill was the reauthorization and requirements to use E-Verify.  Now all we are left is a bill that places illegal immigrant interests above those of hard working American families and leaves the bill at the foot of future generations.

Furthermore, Pelosi, Reid and Obama also demanded the stripping of the one protection that had been included by the Senate. 

 

Sen. Sanders of Vermont and Sen. Grassley of Iowa had gotten unanimous approval in the Senate to include language that bailed-out banks could no longer be allowed to fire American workers and replace them with foreign workers.

 

Pelosi, Reid and Obama made sure that banks can continue to discriminate against Americans in favor of cheaper more compliant foreign workers.

 

Friends, this is an injustice that will come to plague the perpetrators as time moves on.

 

But the extent to which the U.S. Chamber of Commerce can continue to call the shots on using illegal foreign workers and importing additional authorized foreign workers will depend on how hard each of you reading this will work to spread this story in every newspaper, talk show and website.

 

These closed-door affronts to fair-play and compassion were executed because the leaders believed they will get by with it…. because they believe the American people are too tired, too dispirited and too baffled by the complexity of the trillions of dollars of bail-outs to hold their leaders accountable.

The outcry against the devious, secretive and undemocratic way that the conference Stimulus Bill was negotiated has led to House Speaker Pelosi putting the House vote off until Friday.

 

Even though Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Reid and the Obama White House have made it clear that they will not accept any limitations on illegal aliens in the Stimulus Bill, there remains an outside chance that your phone calls this afternoon could tip the balance somewhere.

Fawning news media continues to portray Obama-messiah as the people’s savior…

Oh, my!  The Stuttering Messiah has done it again.  He’s worked another miracle.

  

Yes, he’s saved another American from sure poverty, and “changed his life forever,” with just a glance, and a few kind words. 

 

Now, instead of his $7.85 an hour job flipping burgers at McDonald’s, young Julio Osegueda has “rocketed” to “instant celebrity” after confronting the Obama-messiah after a town hall meeting in Florida about forcing companies like McDonald’s to give “benefits.” 

 

And what kind of “instant celebrity” did Mr. Osegueda obtain, after his wondrous encounter with the Obama-messiah?  A one-day job as “color announcer” for the Fort Myers Miracle baseball team’s radio broadcast for its opening game on April 10.

 

According to Osegueda, who was later interviewed by idiot MSNBC news reader, Kieth Olberman, whose masquerade as a journalist has gone far too long past its expiration date, “I have never felt this good except maybe when I got my PlayStation 3 for Christmas.”

 

Wow.  Let’s hope the Obama-messiah can do that for everyone.  Surely, we’ll see an end to poverty by…well…by…the turn of the century. 

 

And while we’re at it, let’s hope the news media continues to fawn over every similar great and wondrous miracle the Obama-messiah works among his adoring public.  You can hear the chants now, as more and more poor people trade in their jobs at McDonald’s for their 15 minutes of fame with the Obama-messiah: “Yes, we can!”  “Yes, we can!” “Yes, we can!” 

 

Worst of all, according the below news article, as the young man stood face to face with the Obama-messiah, he excitedly exclaimed “Thank you, Lord Jesus!”

It was quite a moment at the end of President Obama’s town hall meeting in Fort Myers, Fla., yesterday. As The News-Press writes, 19-year-old Julio Osegueda “rocketed from a Cape Coral teenager who flips burgers for $7.85 an hour at a McDonald’s to an instant celebrity of sorts.”

 

And he got a temporary job.

 

For those who didn’t see what happened at the town hall when Osegueda asked the president about when he and other low-wage workers might be able to get job benefits, here’s the video:

 

“I have never felt this good except maybe when I got my PlayStation 3 for Christmas,” Osegueda told the News-Press later.

 

After the event, the newspaper adds, Osegueda:

 

Picked up another job — if just for a day — as the color announcer for the Fort Myers Miracle baseball team’s radio broadcast for its home opener April 10. The one-day gig typically pays $25, but the Miracle said the salary is negotiable.

 

“I’ll be ready,” he said about his debut.

 

Also during Tuesday’s town hall, a 61-year-old woman named Henrietta Hughes told the president that she and her 37-year-old son are homeless after having their house foreclosed. She asked for his help. Obama said he would, and his staff put Hughes in touch with local housing authority officials.

 

The News-Press reports that:

 

Their story got the attention of another person who wanted to help.

 

While local and national media swarmed Henrietta Hughes for interviews, Chene Thompson, wife of State Rep. Nick Thompson, grabbed Hughes’ hand and offered them a house.

 

The house is in LaBelle, the first home Chene Thompson bought after law school. “Just give me the opportunity to help you,” Chene Thompson told her.

 

But as of Tuesday night, the Hughes had not contacted the Thompsons about coming to see the house. Their cell phone is out of minutes, so it is nearly impossible to get in touch with them.

 

Update at 11:45 a.m. ET. Osegueda was on last night’s edition of MSNBC’s always liberal Countdown with Keith Olbermann. Here’s some of the back-and-forth Julio had with Keith:

 

Olbermann: “Were you satisfied with the president’s actual answer to your question about improving your benefits?”

 

Osegueda: “Yes, I was. I was truly blessed. The answer that Mr. President Obama gave me was such a motivation that made me feel as if success is around the corner. Just keep trying hard and don’t stop for anything.”

 

Update at 1:45 p.m. ET: An Oval reader points out that Julio doesn’t say “thank you, Lord Jesus,” in the video above. According to the News-Press, here’s where that line came from:

 

“I jumped up on my chair, screamed my lungs out and shouted ‘you’re the man, pick me, pick me.’ I felt good,” Osegueda said (describing what he did to get Obama’s attention).

 

Then, Obama changed his life. “Thank you Lord Jesus,” (Osegueda) said he shouted as he stood face to face with the president.

Well, the campaign to portray socialism as “fair” and “patriotic,” and capitalism as unfair, greed-driven and unpatriotic has started.  And man it’s a doozy.  A real slick one, put together apparently by TV producer and long-time ultra-liberal rabble-rouser Normal Lear.  They even ask you to sign their pledge to become a “born again American” and commit to becoming your country’s keeper.  And they sell their own “Born Again American” t-shirts, with little red, white and blue Obama hearts on them. 

 

You’ve got to give these guys credit.  They sure know how to put a slick campaign together to pull the wool over people’s eyes, casting their socialistic revolution as the ultimate patriotic endeavor.  Go to the web site above and listen to the song.  It’s only about three or four minutes long.  Be sure and stick with it until the end, so you can see how the singers start with patriotic fervor (you’d almost think these were conservative Christians singing, at first glance) and end with blasphemy and socialistic abandon (substituting themselves for God by singing “my country ‘tis of me” instead of “my country ‘tis of Thee”).

 

This is what we have to look forward to, folks.  America’s foundational way of life will now be cast as unpatriotic, inherently unfair, and divisive, while the socialist way under the Obama-messiah will be cleverly cast as patriotic, fair, and inclusive. 

 

But before you go to the web site above and listen to the song, be sure to read the short comments on it below from Americans who know the difference between true patriotism and slick deception.  You’ll get a real kick out of some of these comments.  And with the flood of deception coming forth from the mouths of the Obama-messiah and his camp (which seems to be drowning out virtually all sensible messages), it also helps to see that there are more like-minded people out there than we might know.

Apparently, some of our fellow Americans only acknowledge themselves as such when their candidates win election.  This collection of sunshine patriots have launched their website, proclaiming themselves “Born Again Americans,” led by television producer Norman Lear:

I don’t need to sign the pledge on the website, because unlike all of these sudden Americans, I didn’t stop being American.  My passion for my country and my pride in it doesn’t start and stop depending on which party controls Congress and the White House.  Frankly, anyone who needs to experience a “rebirth” of their Americanism is someone on whom we can’t rely when things get tough, anyway — so who needs them?

Plus, there’s something creepily religious about the phrase “Born Again American” that appears to emphasize Barack Obama as their secular Messiah.  There’s nothing at all American about falling into cults of personality.  Maybe if they’d taken a little more pride in their American heritage, they’d already know that.

Fittingly, the acronym for this new organization is BAA — perfect for the sheeple that join it.

Obama-messiah’s “change”: Using made-to-order crisis to overthrow the American way of life

Throughout his entire career in politics the Obama-messiah has followed the pattern of “community activism” first laid out by revolutionary change-agent Saul Alinsky, the son of Russian-Jewish immigrants whose life was spent working to overthrow the very foundation of the American way of life and replace that foundation with a socialistic/communistic system. 

It was Alinsky who is said to have coined the phrase, “Think globally, but act locally,” meaning global socialistic change must be brought about by the disenchanted masses acting out of frustration from their local communities.

Alinsky taught that massive socialistic change can only take place after the disenchanted multitudes are brought to the point of despair by a crisis of such gargantuan proportions that all mental, emotional and physical resistance to change is nullified. 

As Alinsky put it, “Any revolutionary change must be preceded by a passive, affirmative, non-challenging attitude toward change among the mass of our people. They must feel so frustrated, so defeated, so lost, so futureless in the prevailing system that they are willing to let go of the past and change the future.”

In other words, the crisis that brings about “revolutionary change” must be mind-numbing in both scope and effect.  And fear of the crisis must be drummed up to such proportions that the people willingly give up all resistance to change, and instead insist on it.  Hence, “Change We Can Believe In” became the cornerstone of the Obama-messiah’s campaign.

As Phyllis Schlafly points out in the article below, “Change” was also Saul Alinsky’s favorite word.  He used it on page after page [of his book, Rules for Radicals]. “I will argue,” he wrote, “that man’s hopes lie in the acceptance of the great law of change.”

This is why you now see old Jewish globalists like Henry Kissinger running around the world giving speeches urging the Obama-messiah to “seize the opportunity” to “change the world” by ushering in a “new world order” (see here and here).

In other words, the economic crisis is a made-to-order crisis, specifically designed to bring about the kind of socialistic change in America that the liberal globalist elitists have wanted for decades.  While the crisis itself is designed to bring about socialistic change from the community level to the national level, the ultimate goal is to bring about such transformative socialistic change that America can be integrated into the one-world system as a socialist rather than a capitalist nation.

Obama-messiah’s so-called “economic stimulus” package is in reality nothing more than a bill designed to fund the socialistic change that will take place from the community level up, once the money from the bill begins to flow to its intended recipients.  This is why billions of dollars (not millions, but billions) in “economic stimulus” monies have been allocated for “community networks” and “social welfare organizations” like the corrupt ACORN, and many others. 

Then, America will be merged into a socialistic one-world system.

How Obama Uses Saul Alinsky’s “Community Organizing” Principles (and What It Means for Your Life and Your Future)

Immediately after the Democratic National Convention in Colorado, the Boston Globe published a letter from L. David Alinsky. He boasted about how Barack Obama had made extremely effective use of his training in the methods of David’s late father, the famous Chicago radical, Saul D. Alinsky.

 

David Alinsky gloated: “I am proud to see that my father’s model for organizing is being applied successfully beyond local community organizing to affect the Democratic campaign in 2008. It is a fine tribute to Saul Alinsky as we approach his 100th birthday.”

 

What was Saul Alinsky’s model that Barack Obama used so successfully to defeat the Clinton machine plus the Republican Party in a dramatic one-two punch never before seen in politics? What is known today as “the Alinsky ideology and Alinsky concepts of mass organization for power” are fully set forth in Alinsky’s 1971 book called Rules for Radicals: A Pragmatic Primer for Realistic Radicals. Alinsky’s worldview was that mankind is divided into three parts: “the Haves, the Have-Nots, and the Have-a-Little, Want Mores.” His purpose was to teach the Have-Nots how to take power and money away from the Haves by creating mass organizations to seize power, and he frankly admitted that “this means revolution.”

 

He wanted a radical change of America’s social and economic structure, and he planned to achieve that through creating public discontent and moral confusion. Alinsky developed strategies to achieve power through mass organization, and organizing was his word for revolution.

 

He wanted to move the United States from capitalism to socialism, where the means of production would be owned by all the people (i.e., the government). A believer in economic determinism, he viewed unemployment, disease, crime and bigotry as byproducts of capitalism.

 

“Change” was Alinsky’s favorite word, used on page after page. “I will argue,” he wrote, “that man’s hopes lie in the acceptance of the great law of change.”

 

Alinsky used what he called “general concepts of change” to move us toward “a science of revolution.” What he called “change” meant massive change in our socio-economic structure, and what he called “organizing” meant pursuing confrontational political tactics.

 

Alinsky taught the Have-Nots to “hate the establishment of the Haves” because they have “power, money, food, security, and luxury.” He claimed that “justice, morality, law, and order, are mere words used by the Haves to justify and secure their status quo.”

 

Alinsky didn’t ignore traditional moral standards or dismiss them as unnecessary. He was more devious; he taught his followers that “Moral rationalization is indispensable at all times of action whether to justify the selection or the use of ends or means.”

 

To achieve his goals, he sought local community organizers who projected confidence and vision as well as change. Barack Obama fit the profile.

 

Alinsky didn’t want just talkers; he wanted radicals who were prepared to take bold action to organize the discontented, precipitate crises, grab power, and thereby transform society. He taught his organizers how to infiltrate existing institutions such as churches, unions and political parties, gain influence in them, and then introduce change.

 

The qualities Alinsky looked for in a good organizer were ego (“reaching for the highest level for which man can reach — to create, to be a ‘great creator,’ to play God”), curiosity (raising “questions that agitate, that break through the accepted pattern”), irreverence (“nothing is sacred”; “detests dogma, defies any finite definition of morality”), a sense of humor (“the most potent weapons known to mankind are satire and ridicule”), and an organized personality with confidence in presenting the right reason for his actions only “as a moral rationalization after the right end has been achieved.”

 

The organizer must “rub raw the resentments of the people of the community; fan the latent hostilities of many of the people to the point of overt expression…. An organizer must stir up dissatisfaction and discontent.”

 

Alinsky trained his community organizers to adopt a “middle-class identity” and familiarity with their “values and problems.” After achieving “the priceless value of his middle-class experience,” he will “begin to dissect and examine that way of life as he never has before.”

 

Alinsky’s trainees are instructed to return to the suburban scene of the middle class with its variety of organizations from PTAs to League of Women Voters, consumer groups, churches, and clubs. Alinsky boasted that, “With rare exceptions, our activists and radicals are products of and rebels against our middle-class society. … Our rebels have contemptuously rejected the values and way of life of the middle class.”

 

Put Rules for Radicals on your must-read list if you want to understand much of contemporary politics (i.e., the policies of Barak Hussein Obama).

 

How hidden provisions in Obama-messiah’s “stimulus” bill are designed to put government in charge of your doctor’s treatment decisions (and why the elderly will bear the brunt of it)…

As you’ll see in the article below, instead of the “economic stimulus” bill, they should call  this the “Obama seeks to kill off the elderly and leave them writhing in pain until they die” bill.

As we’ve been documenting throughout this blog, the so-called “economic stimulus” bill is actually designed not to stimulate the economy, but instead, to pay for a massive overthrow of the American way of life, replacing it with a form of socialism that will entrench bureaucratic micro-management of every aspect of your life, including your health and medical treatments.

In the below article you’ll learn why under the Obama-messiah, every decision your doctor makes regarding your medical treatments will now be subject to government oversight.  And if the government does not like the health care your doctor is giving you, it will dictate to your doctor how to handle your medical treatment.

What’s more, not only will some faceless bureaucrat with absolutely no medical training be calling the shots on your medical treatment, but it will be done on a cost-to-benefit ratio basis.  In other words, if the faceless government bureacrat overseeing your doctor’s medical treatment decisions concludes that a certain medical treatment is too expensive compared to the perceived benefit, you don’t get the treatment. 

Worse yet, if you are elderly, you are really left out in the cold under Obama-messiah’s “economic stimulus” bill.  You see, the faceless government bureaucrat overseeing your doctor’s treatment decisions gets to decide whether or not the cost of your treatment is worth giving it to you for the relatively short time you will benefit from it due to your age. 

In other words, if for example you need pain management treatment due to osteoporosis or arthritis or some other disease process, and the bureaucrats decide that statistically you will only benefit from the treatment for a few short years before you die, they can order your doctor NOT to give you the treatment.  You get to writhe in pain while you wait to die.  After all, the short time you might benefit is not worth the expense of giving you the treatment.

For all of you seniors who voted for Obama because you “hate Bush,” you are now going to learn what true hate is all about.  These despicable, blood-sucking liberal socio-fascists consider the elderly to be nothing more than “useless eaters.” And they simply want to hurry along your exit from this world.  There is not an ounce of compassion in them.  There is not an ounce of love in them.  They are simply brute beasts, whose god is money, and whose morals are dictated by the financial bottom line.  Everything they accuse Republicans of being, the liberals in reality, are the epitome of. 

I have warned until I am blue in the face that Obama-messiah is going to usher in an era of shortage, rationing (not just of health care, but of everything), restriction, pain, and bureaucratic micro-management of every aspect your life, and that he will do so in the name of “economic prosperity” and “change.” 

Yes, “Obama’s gonna change the world,” alright.  Unfortunately, for the worst, not the better.  Get ready for it.  It’s coming fast and furious.  And it’s not going to be pretty.  Especially if you are elderly.

Ruin Your Health With the Obama Stimulus Plan: Betsy McCaughey

Feb. 9 (Bloomberg) — Republican Senators are questioning whether President Barack Obama’s stimulus bill contains the right mix of tax breaks and cash infusions to jump-start the economy.

Tragically, no one from either party is objecting to the health provisions slipped in without discussion. These provisions reflect the handiwork of Tom Daschle, until recently the nominee to head the Health and Human Services Department.

Senators should read these provisions and vote against them because they are dangerous to your health. (Page numbers refer to H.R. 1 EH, pdf version).

The bill’s health rules will affect “every individual in the United States” (445, 454, 479). Your medical treatments will be tracked electronically by a federal system. Having electronic medical records at your fingertips, easily transferred to a hospital, is beneficial. It will help avoid duplicate tests and errors.

But the bill goes further. One new bureaucracy, the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology, will monitor treatments to make sure your doctor is doing what the federal government deems appropriate and cost effective. The goal is to reduce costs and “guide” your doctor’s decisions (442, 446). These provisions in the stimulus bill are virtually identical to what Daschle prescribed in his 2008 book, “Critical: What We Can Do About the Health-Care Crisis.” According to Daschle, doctors have to give up autonomy and “learn to operate less like solo practitioners.”

Keeping doctors informed of the newest medical findings is important, but enforcing uniformity goes too far.

New Penalties

Hospitals and doctors that are not “meaningful users” of the new system will face penalties. “Meaningful user” isn’t defined in the bill. That will be left to the HHS secretary, who will be empowered to impose “more stringent measures of meaningful use over time” (511, 518, 540-541)

What penalties will deter your doctor from going beyond the electronically delivered protocols when your condition is atypical or you need an experimental treatment? The vagueness is intentional. In his book, Daschle proposed an appointed body with vast powers to make the “tough” decisions elected politicians won’t make.

The stimulus bill does that, and calls it the Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research (190-192). The goal, Daschle’s book explained, is to slow the development and use of new medications and technologies because they are driving up costs. He praises Europeans for being more willing to accept “hopeless diagnoses” and “forgo experimental treatments,” and he chastises Americans for expecting too much from the health-care system.

Elderly Hardest Hit

Daschle says health-care reform “will not be pain free.” Seniors should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them. That means the elderly will bear the brunt.

Medicare now pays for treatments deemed safe and effective. The stimulus bill would change that and apply a cost- effectiveness standard set by the Federal Council (464).

The Federal Council is modeled after a U.K. board discussed in Daschle’s book. This board approves or rejects treatments using a formula that divides the cost of the treatment by the number of years the patient is likely to benefit. Treatments for younger patients are more often approved than treatments for diseases that affect the elderly, such as osteoporosis.

In 2006, a U.K. health board decreed that elderly patients with macular degeneration had to wait until they went blind in one eye before they could get a costly new drug to save the other eye. It took almost three years of public protests before the board reversed its decision.

Hidden Provisions

If the Obama administration’s economic stimulus bill passes the Senate in its current form, seniors in the U.S. will face similar rationing. Defenders of the system say that individuals benefit in younger years and sacrifice later.

The stimulus bill will affect every part of health care, from medical and nursing education, to how patients are treated and how much hospitals get paid. The bill allocates more funding for this bureaucracy than for the Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force combined (90-92, 174-177, 181).

Hiding health legislation in a stimulus bill is intentional. Daschle supported the Clinton administration’s health-care overhaul in 1994, and attributed its failure to debate and delay. A year ago, Daschle wrote that the next president should act quickly before critics mount an opposition. “If that means attaching a health-care plan to the federal budget, so be it,” he said. “The issue is too important to be stalled by Senate protocol.”

More Scrutiny Needed

On Friday, President Obama called it “inexcusable and irresponsible” for senators to delay passing the stimulus bill. In truth, this bill needs more scrutiny.

The health-care industry is the largest employer in the U.S. It produces almost 17 percent of the nation’s gross domestic product. Yet the bill treats health care the way European governments do: as a cost problem instead of a growth industry. Imagine limiting growth and innovation in the electronics or auto industry during this downturn. This stimulus is dangerous to your health and the economy.

U.S. Taxpayers Risk $9.7 Trillion on Obama-messiah Bailout Programs

Amazing, isn’t it? We could pay off 90% of the nation’s home mortgages with the taxpayer money that is now going into the Obama-messiah’s “stimulus” bill. That’s not 90% of the delinquent mortgatges. It’s 90% of ALL mortgages.

Yet instead, Obama-messiah is earmarking the vast majority of that money to pay for increased unemployment benefits, radical social welfare programs that will subvert the foundations of this nation in an attempt to turn it into a socialist “paradise,” and most egregious of all, huge bailouts for billionaire bankers whose reckless policies and fraudulent accounting helped bring about this crisis in the first place.

As Bloomberg.com points out below, so far most of the bailout money has been handed out through the Federal Reserve system in secret backdoor deals that the public is not even allowed to know about. We are indebting our children, and our children’s children, for as far into the future as the eye can see, and we don’t even get to know how the money is being spent, or who is spending it.

But don’t worry. Just trust the Obama-messiah. He will get us through this. After all, “We’re gonna spread happiness…we’re gonna spread freedom…Obama’s gonna change it, Obama’s gonna lead us…Obama’s gonna change the world.” Just repeat it over and over again. Soon, you too will believe in the impossible.

Feb. 9 (Bloomberg) — The stimulus package the U.S. Congress is completing would raise the government’s commitment to solving the financial crisis to $9.7 trillion, enough to pay off more than 90 percent of the nation’s home mortgages.

The Federal Reserve, Treasury Department and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation have lent or spent almost $3 trillion over the past two years and pledged up to $5.7 trillion more. The Senate is to vote this week on an economic-stimulus measure of at least $780 billion. It would need to be reconciled with an $819 billion plan the House approved last month.

Only the stimulus bill to be approved this week, the $700 billion Troubled Asset Relief Program passed four months ago and $168 billion in tax cuts and rebates enacted in 2008 have been voted on by lawmakers. The remaining $8 trillion is in lending programs and guarantees, almost all under the Fed and FDIC. Recipients’ names have not been disclosed.

“We’ve seen money go out the back door of this government unlike any time in the history of our country,” Senator Byron Dorgan, a North Dakota Democrat, said on the Senate floor Feb. 3. “Nobody knows what went out of the Federal Reserve Board, to whom and for what purpose. How much from the FDIC? How much from TARP? When? Why?”

Financial Rescue

The pledges, amounting to almost two-thirds of the value of everything produced in the U.S. last year, are intended to rescue the financial system after the credit markets seized up about 18 months ago. The promises are composed of about $1 trillion in stimulus packages, around $3 trillion in lending and spending and $5.7 trillion in agreements to provide aid. The total already tapped has decreased about 1 percent since November, mostly because foreign central banks are using fewer dollars in currency-exchange agreements called swaps.

Federal Reserve lending to banks peaked at a record $2.3 trillion in December, dropping to $1.83 trillion by last week. The Fed balance sheet is still more than double the $880 billion it was in the week before Sept. 17 when it agreed to accept lower-quality collateral.

The worst financial crisis in two generations has erased $14.5 trillion, or 33 percent, of the value of the world’s companies since Sept. 15; brought down Bear Stearns Cos. and Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc.; and led to the takeover of Merrill Lynch & Co. by Bank of America Corp.

The $9.7 trillion in pledges would be enough to send a $1,430 check to every man, woman and child alive in the world. It’s 13 times what the U.S. has spent so far on wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to Congressional Budget Office data, and is almost enough to pay off every home mortgage loan in the U.S., calculated at $10.5 trillion by the Federal Reserve.

‘All the Stops’

“The Fed, Treasury and FDIC are pulling out all the stops to stop any widespread systemic damage to the economy,” said Dana Johnson, chief economist for Comerica Inc. in Dallas and a former senior economist at the central bank. “The federal government is on the hook for an awful lot of money but I think it’s needed to help the financial system recover.”

Bloomberg News tabulated data from the Fed, Treasury and FDIC and interviewed regulators, economists and academic researchers to gauge the full extent of the government’s rescue effort.

Commitments may expand again soon. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner postponed until tomorrow an announcement that may invite private investment as a way to clear toxic debt from bank balance sheets. Measures that have been settled include a new round of injections of taxpayer funds into banks, targeted at those identified by regulators as most in need of additional capital, people briefed on the matter said.

Program Delay

The government is already backing $301 billion of Citigroup Inc. securities and another $118 billion from Bank of America. The government hasn’t yet paid out on any of the guarantees.

The Fed said Friday that it is delaying the start a $200 billion program called the Term Asset-Backed Securities Loan Facility, or TALF, to revive the market for securities based on consumer loans such as credit-card, auto and student borrowings.

Most of the spending programs are run out of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, where Geithner served as president. He was sworn in as Treasury secretary on Jan. 26.

When Congress approved the TARP on Oct. 3, Fed Chairman Ben S. Bernanke and then Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson acknowledged the need for transparency and oversight. The Federal Reserve so far is refusing to disclose loan recipients or reveal the collateral they are taking in return. Collateral is an asset pledged by a borrower in the event a loan payment isn’t made.

Fed Sued

Bloomberg requested details of Fed lending under the Freedom of Information Act and filed a federal lawsuit against the central bank Nov. 7 seeking to force disclosure of borrower banks and their collateral. Arguments in the suit may be heard as soon as this month, according to the court docket. Bloomberg asked the Treasury in an FOIA request Jan. 28 for a detailed list of the securities it planned to guarantee for Citigroup and Bank of America. Bloomberg hasn’t received a response to the request.

The Bloomberg lawsuit is Bloomberg LP v. Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, 08-CV-9595, U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York (Manhattan).

Obama-messiah’s new Attorney General says Feds must go easier on black criminals

I have warned that the news media has become Obama-messiah’s Praetorian Guard, particularly in regards to the fact that they have been consciously and systematically couching all of his policies in only the most glowing of terms, no matter how egregious.

Here, we see the selection of his new Attorny General, Eric Holder — America’s first black Attorney General — being cast by the liberal news media as a pick designed to help “resolve racial bias problems in the criminal justice system.”

In reality, he was chosen, pure and simple, to institute policies designed to give black criminals more lenient treatment.

The fact that more crimes are committed by black males than any other racial group is re-cast as a “racial bias” situation. Right off the bat, the article below somberly intones that a “disproportionate number” of black males are arrested and imprisoned than any other group. It says this “unchecked racial injustice” and “insensitivity by federal officials” will now come to a screaching halt under Holder.

The term “disproportionate,” of course, is a liberal catch-word designed to invoke feelings of guilt, i.e., as if police run around looking only for black male criminals, turning a blind eye to the nefarious deeds of white male criminals. The term is also cleverly designed to imply that the arrest of criminals should always be proportionate, i.e., that for every black criminal arrested, police should go out and catch a white criminal. After all, it’s only fair. And “fairness” is what the Obama-messiah administration is all about, right?

The term “unchecked racial injustice” is designed to imply that most of the black criminals arrested, tried and incarcerated are unjustly done so, which is to say, their arrest was unjust, their trial was unjust and their incarceration was unjust.

And the term “insensitivity by federal officials” is designed to imply that federal officials have not put an end to these unjusts arrests, trials and incarcerations of blacks because they are insensitive to the horrific racial bias that police officers operate under, that juries operate under, and that the prison system itself operates under. What’s more, they don’t understand the terrible pressures put on blacks, apparently by virtue of their skin color alone, to operate outside of the law, and they are insensitive to the need to take these pressures into account when deciding whether or not to arrest, try and incarcerate a black offender.

But the plain, irrefutable fact is that more black males commit crimes than any other groups: More violent crimes. More felonies. More misdemeanors. More drug crimes. More rapes. More robberies. You name it. About the only crimes whites appear to commit more of is…drum roll, please…white collar crimes.

The new Attorney General is also well-known as an anti-Second Amendment gun-grabber, which, if put in the proper perspective, means he wants to disarm legally armed whites so that illegally armed black criminals have a better chance. Of course, the news media will trumpet his gun-grabbing policies as evidence that he is “tough on crime.” But as every western country that has instituted strict “gun control” laws have seen, criminals end up with all of the guns and law-abiding citizens end up with no way of protecting themselves.

With First Black Attorney General Come Expectations That Justice System Can Change

 

For decades, the face of the criminal justice system in this country has been black and male: hundreds of thousands locked behind bars, arrested in disproportionate numbers and facing execution at rates far greater than those for the general population.

 

This week, Eric H. Holder Jr.’s swearing-in as the nation’s first black attorney general and its top law enforcement official came weighted with heavy expectation that the system could change.

 

Known as a prosecutor who was unflinchingly tough on crime, Holder, 58, is also a former civil rights lawyer who has mentored young black men. Many advocates view him as the best chance in decades to right what they consider unchecked racial injustice and insensitivity by federal officials.

 

Civil rights advocates are already outlining a long list of priorities, including changing laws that lead to disproportionate prison terms for blacks, ending racial profiling and stepping up the policing of discrimination in employment and housing.

 

“The most important thing is that we have a person who gets it,” said Benjamin Jealous, president of the NAACP. “He understands that the purpose of incarceration is not just punishment and protection but it is also redemption. He understands that people shouldn’t be targeted because of what they look like but because of what they do. He understands that enforcing civil rights serves the interest of law enforcement. It’s not about what he looks like, it’s about what he believes.”

 

Holder will oversee civil rights enforcement, crime prevention and racial justice — issues with a broad impact and audience — among many competing priorities in an agency that also plays a central role in fighting terrorism and policing corporate abuse. Fixing decades of perceived injustices is a difficult task at any time but will be especially challenging for Holder now, when government budgets have tightened and scarce money is allocated to national security and defense efforts.

 

In public statements since his nomination, Holder has emphasized civil rights enforcement, but he has not indicated a desire to plunge headlong into broad changes to the criminal laws. Civil rights enforcement represents a fraction of the Justice Department’s wide-ranging responsibilities.

 

As he settles in during his first days in office, Holder said his personal story will inevitably shape his view of the job. His father served in World War II and was forced to stand in a segregated railroad car, Holder said. His grandmother was not allowed to sit at the counter at Woolworth in New Jersey. His sister-in-law was on the front lines of integrating the University of Alabama.

 

“As someone who witnessed the civil rights movement and whose family members literally suffered through the evils of segregation, I hope I can bring a unique perspective to the department,” he said. “This department has played a historic role in civil rights over the years, and I owe it to those who came before me and to the American people I serve to oversee a vigorous enforcement program that deals with the realities we confront today.”

 

On issues of crime and punishment, Holder brings his background as a hard-nosed, law-and-order prosecutor. As a U.S. attorney in the District, he lobbied for tougher minimum sentences for drug offenders but later changed course on nonviolent criminals, according to Families Against Mandatory Minimums, a D.C.-based group that calls for changing the sentencing system.

 

In his time away from the office, friends say, Holder worried about young black men caught up in the criminal justice system.

 

In the 1980s, he and his fellow public corruption prosecutor Reid H. Weingarten began to volunteer at the Oak Hill juvenile detention center. And as the crack epidemic ravaged the District in the mid-1980s, Holder became an early member of the local chapter of Concerned Black Men, a mentoring group founded to provide positive black male role models. From the judge’s bench, he sent scores of young black men to prison, but in his chambers, he hosted children involved in the mentoring program.

 

At one of the group’s fundraisers, Holder met his wife, prominent Washington obstetrician Sharon Malone. He still makes financial contributions to the organization, said Executive Director George L. Garrow Jr. “We like to believe that we’ve helped him keep in touch with the community,” Garrow said.

 

Holder’s presence at the top of the Justice Department, along with his history, sends a powerful signal, said Larry Thompson, who succeeded Holder as the second black deputy attorney general.

 

“You bring your full self to the job, your experiences, your background,” he said.

 

President Obama and Holder have vowed to restore public faith in the department, which was plagued by political hiring scandals during the years that George W. Bush was president. Last month, Inspector General Glenn A. Fine exposed hiring abuses and racial insults at the civil rights division, underscoring persistent complaints from Democrats that it had lost its way as the nation’s premier protector of the rights of African Americans.

 

The black community’s relationship with the department has long been complicated. The distrust of law enforcement organizations was increased by the FBI, which for years harassed and spied on the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

 

At the same time, activists have taken pride in the glory days of the civil rights division, which was established in 1957. Over the next decade, the department helped protect Freedom Riders and students seeking to break color barriers at state universities.

 

For criminal justice activists, a pressing concern has been sentencing disparities for convicts caught with crack cocaine versus powder cocaine. Possession of crack carries longer criminal penalties, and 80 percent of people prosecuted for crack offenses have been African American, according to the Sentencing Project. Obama has said repeatedly that he wants to end the sentencing disparity.

 

But when Sen. Benjamin L. Cardin (D-Md.) asked Holder at his confirmation hearing to work with Congress to promote more fairness in sentencing laws, he responded with the cool of a longtime judge and prosecutor: “We have to be tough. We have to be smart. And we have to be fair. Our criminal justice system has to be fair. It has to be viewed as being fair.”

 

The sentence disparities have combined with social and economic factors to lead to the increasing number of African Americans in prison, a figure that has grown from 100,000 in 1954 — the year of the Supreme Court’s seminal school desegregation case — to 900,000 today, according to the Sentencing Project, a research and advocacy group.

 

“When we look at the prison system, it’s a much worse situation than we had seen before the rise of the modern-day civil rights movement,” said Mark Mauer, executive director of the group. “If current trends continue, one of every three black males today can expect to go to prison in their lifetime. It is one in every six for Hispanic men.”

Locally, four out of five D.C. prisoners are black men.

 

Holder seldom broaches the topic of race directly, but in a 1997 National Public Radio interview conducted soon after his appointment as the Justice Department’s second in command, he shared a quote by the late Samuel Proctor, a pastor in Harlem, that he carried in his wallet.

 

“It says that blackness is another issue entirely apart from class in America,” Holder said. “No matter how affluent, educated and mobile a black person becomes, his race defines him more particularly than anything else.”

And even another Obama-messiah appointee with tax problems…

Apparently, Democrats don’t like tax cuts because they’ve already figured out how to lower their taxes — they simply don’t pay them!

After all, Democrats are just po’ folks.  And only the evil “rich” should have to pay taxes.

As the saga of the Obama-messiah appointees continues to play out, liberal Democrats are clearly being shown for the two-faced hypocrites they truly are, particularly on the subject of paying taxes.

Solis Senate Session Postponed in Wake of Husband’s Tax Lien Revelations

A Senate committee today abruptly canceled a session to consider President Obama’s nomination of Rep. Hilda Solis to be labor secretary in the wake of a report saying that her husband yesterday paid about $6,400 to settle tax liens against his business — including liens that had been outstanding for as long as 16 years.

The report, by USA Today, came just before the Senate’s Health Education Labor and Pensions Committee was slated to meet to consider Solis’s nomination, which had been delayed by questions over her role on the board of the pro-labor organization American Rights at Work. A source said that committee members did not learn about the tax issue until today.

“Today’s executive session was postponed to allow members additional time to review the documentation submitted in support of Representative Solis’s nomination to serve in the important position of Labor Secretary,” read a joint statement issued by Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.), the panel’s chairman, and Mike Enzi (Wyoming), the committee’s ranking Republican. “There are no holds on her nomination and members on both sides of the aisle remain committed to giving her nomination the fair and thorough consideration that she deserves. We will continue to work together to move this nomination forward as soon as possible.”

No new date has been set for the hearing. The disclosure about Solis’s husband comes after tax problems caused trouble for three of Obama’s top appointees, leading two of them — HHS-nominee Tom Daschle and Nancy Killefer, who was to be chief performance officer — to withdraw.

Asked about the USA Today report at the White House daily briefing, press secretary Robert Gibbs emphasized that the nominee’s tax returns are in order.

“Well, I read the story in USA Today, and it quotes somebody that works here, so obviously we’ve — we know about this story. I’ll say this. We reviewed her tax returns, and her tax returns are in order,” said Gibbs.

“The story denotes that her husband had some issues with paying a business tax, and obviously that tax is — should be paid. He’s — she’s not a partner in that business, Gibbs continued. “So we’re not going to penalize her for her husband’s business mistakes. Obviously, her husband, I think, has and should pay any taxes that he owes.”

Obama-messiah growing combative; ridicules Reagan doctrine and tax cuts, tells Republicans “America voted for me!”

Obama-messiah has been bloodied over the past few weeks, ever since it became apparent that the vast majority of his nominees were either tax scofflaws, or were under investigation for criminal activities such as awarding contracts to their big-dollar donors, or made millions of dollars by courting the kind of high-powered lobbyists Obama-messiah claimed to be coming to Washington to “clean up.”

With liberal groups claiming he’s not being socialist enough, and conservative groups claiming he’s too socialist, Obama-messiah is hard-pressed to please anyone. And the frustration is now beginning to show as he lashes out at Republican lawmakers, the Reagan doctrine, tax-cut advocates, small-government advocates and just about anyone else who opposes any part of his “Change We Can Believe In.”

President Obama, fresh off his first Washington apology tour, grew combative Wednesday, asserting that America voted for him, not the other guy, and demanding that lawmakers “put aside politics” — well, Republican lawmakers, anyway.

A day before he headed to a luxury resort to meet behind closed doors with Democrats, the Harvard graduate lectured the less economically astute, ridiculing the Reaganomics Doctrine held dear by Republicans, who prefer tax cuts to new spending to bounce America out of its financial mess.

“Now, in the past few days I’ve heard criticisms of this plan that echo the very same failed theories that helped lead us into this crisis — the notion that tax cuts alone will solve all our problems,” the president said at the White House. “I reject that theory, and so did the American people when they went to the polls in November and voted resoundingly for change.”

The statement, the first of its kind in public, was reminiscent of what Mr. Obama said in private just days after taking office. In the White House’s Roosevelt Room, he told a Republican senator who opposed an element of the stimulus package that “I won. I will trump you on that.”

Mr. Obama, beaten bloody for weeks over his nominations of high-powered lobbyists and tax scofflaws that have rapidly drained his political capital, is no longer making any pretense of seeking to change the tone of Washington, as he repeatedly vowed to do when campaigning. The politics of mirage continued Wednesday in full force, with mixed signals coming out of the White House, from Capitol Hill, and, of course, from beleaguered Tom Daschle, who saw his nomination to head the Health and Human Services Department scuttled for failure to pay his taxes.

A day after banning corporate executives from earning more than $500,000 a year via taxpayer bailouts, Mr. Obama on Thursday will head to a Democratic retreat that has burned through half a million dollars in taxpayer cash for annual retreats at luxury resorts.

While President Clinton’s first trip as president was to Detroit, where he held a town hall meeting with average Americans to talk about how to fix the economy, and President Bush flew to Fort Stewart, Ga., to visit soldiers in the 3rd Infantry Division, Mr. Obama’s first trip aboard Air Force One will take him to a luxury resort in Williamsburg.

“Well, I’d — you know, I’d — Williamsburg is — has a lofty place in our country’s history,” White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said, when asked if there was any special significance to the president’s choice. “I don’t know that there’s any great symbolism in this one in particular,” he added at Wednesday’s briefing off the West Wing.

Mr. Obama will head to Kingsmill Resort and Spa in the historical Virginia city to start a three-day planning session. The resort boasts multiple championship golf courses, a full-service spa and six restaurants, noted the Hill newspaper, which broke the story about the Democratic retreats.

Democrats will ride together to the resort on a chartered Amtrak train at a cost to taxpayers of about $70,000, the Hill reported. Taxpayers will also foot the bill for security helicopters to fly above the train. The caucus will spend thousands: In 2003, for example, they spent $11,200 on food and $6,900 on entertainment, the paper said.

The trip comes after several Democratic lawmakers criticized American International Group Inc. executives for spending nearly $500,000 at a company retreat in California just days after the federal government bailed the company out with $85 billion in taxpayer funds. In addition, Wells Fargo & Co., which received $25 billion in taxpayer bailout money and recently announced a $2.3 billion loss for the last quarter of 2008, canceled its planned 12-night junket to expensive hotels in Las Vegas for events that included a luxurious four-day employee sales conference.

Mr. Gibbs said the Vegas trip “didn’t happen because of the diligent work of many in the reporting of these and the outcry that ensued.” But no one in the briefing room Wednesday asked about the expensive Democratic retreat.

Meanwhile, Mr. Daschle’s politics of mirage emerged as he fades into the shadows from whence he came.

“Make no mistake, tax cheaters cheat us all, and the IRS should enforce our laws to the letter,” he said in 1998 during a debate on a bill reforming the Internal Revenue Service.

Mr. Obama’s nominee to head the HHS said he thought a chauffeured limousine provided by a wealthy Democratic donor was a free ride and simply didn’t know that the limo should have been considered “imputed income.” Even though he paid nearly $140,000 to the IRS, he could not survive the political heat that followed.

President Obama apparently is moving away from being apologetic and becoming more combative as he reminds lawmakers in Congress that Americans “voted resoundingly for change” in November.

Just Tuesday, the president made the rounds on every TV network to apologize for abandoning what he called the highest ethical standards ever enacted in any administration. But living up to that pledge has been trying from the start, and the White House said on Wednesday that it fully expects to fail in the future to meet that threshold.

“I don’t doubt that there are times that we might not live up to those lofty standards,” Mr. Gibbs said, licking his upper lip. “I think that’s safe to say. … He asks us every day to meet them. There are days that we won’t.”

“Are there lessons learned here?” a reporter asked the spokesman Wednesday.

“Well, as I said – I mean, you know, we – the president didn’t think that we were going to come in here and change everything about the way Washington worked in such a short period of time. You can rest assured that we understand that we’ve not yet marked off all of our to-dos.”

It is pure socialism, plain and simple.  The “economic stimulus” money is not going to be used to “create jobs,” but instead to change the very foundations of this nation from one based upon individual liberty, self-reliance and self-determination to one based upon Big Government interference in every aspect of business and industry, and bureaucratic micro-management of our daily lives.

All hail our glorious leader, the Lord Comrade Obama-messiah!
