Hypocrite Obama in 2007: ‘President Does Not Have Power Under Constitution to Unilaterally Authorize a Military Attack’

As a presidential candidate, Sen. Barack Obama (D.-Ill.) emphatically stated that the Constitution does not give the president the authority to unilaterally authorize a military attack unless it is needed to stop an actual or imminent attack on the United States.

 

Obama made the assertion in a Dec. 20, 2007 interview with the Boston Globe when reporter Charlie Savage asked him under what circumstances the president would have the constitutional authority to bomb Iran without first seeking authorization from Congress.

 

“The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation,” Obama responded.

 

 

Obama did not seek congressional authorization before joining allies, including Great Britain and  France, in taking military action against the regime of Libyan dictator Col. Moammar Gadhafi in order to establish a no-fly zone over that country. The action was approved by the United Nations Security Council but not by the U.S. Congress.

 

In a followup question in its December 2007 interview, the Boston Globe asked Obama if the Constitution gave the president the power to disregard a congressional statute putting some type of limit on the way troops could be deployed.  Here, too, Obama deferred to the constitutional authority of Congress.

 

“No, the President does not have that power,” Obama told the paper. “To date, several Congresses have imposed limitations on the number of US troops deployed in a given situation. As President, I will not assert a constitutional authority to deploy troops in a manner contrary to an express limit imposed by Congress and adopted into law.”

Obama-messiah’s picks continue to get “curiouser and curiouser,” as Alice in Wonderland might say.

 

Now the man-god wants to install a new Deputy Attorney General in the Justice Department who has a history of advocating for Constitutional protections for abortionists, pornographers and protesters.

 

His legal arguments include calls for no restrictions on abortion on demand (including for minors), and no restrictions on pornographers (including on their use of under-age children).

 

He also advocates for no restrictions on pornography users, declaring for example that the use of filters on public library computers meant to protect children from seeing hard-core sex images actually restricts the “free speech” rights of porno users to access their favorite porno sites.

 

What’s more, he has argued for special rights for protestors, such as the “right” to trespass on your private property while protesting.  This, under the specious argument that the protestors “free speech” rights trump your private property rights!

 

Clearly this is more of that wonderful “Change We Can Believe In.”

President Obama has expressed his belief the U.S. Constitution should be interpreted through the lens of current events and now he’s apparently preparing to install as a senior official at the U.S. Justice Department a lawyer who goes one step further, advocating for constitutional protections for abortionists, pornographers and protesters.

 

The evaluation of Justice Department nominee David Ogden, who would be deputy to Attorney General Eric Holder, comes from Fidelis, a consortium of organizations working to promote religious freedom, values of human life and the institutions of marriage and the family.

 

“Ogden is an abortion-on-demand absolutist. He opposes common sense restrictions on abortion, including policies that have significant support from the American people, such as parental notification by minors,” the organizations said in a report today.

 

Also, “Ogden is an absolutist on pornography and obscenity. He opposes common sense restrictions on the ability of pornography peddlers to sell their products. He believes pornography users have a constitutional right to view pornography at a public library.”

 

Additionally, “He believes private property owners’ right to exclude protesters from their property must yield to the protesters’ free speech right.”

 

And he “supports a ‘living Constitution’ that changes to fit the latest fad of the intelligentsia,” the report said.

 

Ogden’s belief system appears to align with the sentiments expressed by Obama earlier. WND has reported Obama believes the Constitution is flawed because it does not mandate redistribution of wealth and he says the Supreme Court should have intervened years ago to accomplish that.

 

Obama also repeatedly has stated his desire for empathetic judges who “understand” the plight of minorities. In a 2007 speech to Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, he said, “We need somebody who’s got the heart, the empathy, to recognize what it’s like to be a young teenage mom. The empathy to understand what it’s like to be poor, or African-American, or gay, or disabled, or old. And that’s the criteria by which I’m going to be selecting my judges.”

 

Fidelis called Obama’s nomination of Ogden, who was described as a “skilled manager” when his name was suggested for the Justice Department’s No. 2 post, a “major mistake.”

 

“David Ogden is a hired gun from Playboy and ACLU,” said Brian Burch, president of the pro-family group. “He can’t run from his long record of opposing common sense laws protecting families, women, and children. The United States Senate has a responsibility to the American people to insure that Mr. Ogden’s full record is fully reviewed before any vote on his nomination.”

 

The group’s extensive research on Ogden cites his work on behalf of homosexuality in Lawrence vs. Texas, for Playboy and Penthouse on issues involving pornography and his representation of a company that distributes videos titled “Bubblegum cuties,” “Sweet young things,” “Young girls” and “Fresh and young.”

 

“He has opposed filters on library computers protecting children from Internet smut, and successfully defended the right of pornographers to produce material with underage children,” Burch said.

 

“Ogden even sued the federal government in an attempt to publish Braille versions of Playboy magazine – at taxpayer expense, of course,” he said.

 

The report said Ogden has argued for the treatment of traditional definitions of marriage as a “social prejudice.”

 

“At a time when America’s families are under increasing assault, Mr. Ogden is a dangerous choice for a position whose responsibilities include the enforcement of our nation’s laws,” Burch said.

 

Fidelis spokesman Joshua Mercer told WND one of the major worries is that children should be protected from online sex predators and Ogden’s position goes beyond free speech absolutism.

 

“There is no such thing as free speech to yell ‘fire’ in movie theaters,” he said. “Child porn is not free speech either. It’s disheartening that the president would pick someone with that kind of radical views of human sexuality. You don’t want him as the No. 2 at Justice.”

 

According to the Washington Post, which reported on Ogden’s work leading the transition team at the Justice Department, he has “sterling Democratic credentials” and knowledge of the department from his work as chief of staff to ex-Attorney General Janet Reno.

 

Ogden, a partner at WilmerHale in Washington, D.C., also ran the department’s civil division under President Clinton.

 

But among other criticisms, LifeNews.com has reported Ogden authored a brief in the U.S. Supreme Court arguing there were no negative effects from an abortion.

 

He wrote, “When women do experience regret, depression, or guilt, such feelings are mild and diminish rapidly without adversely affecting general functioning.” He blamed those who have “negative” responses to abortion on “pre-existing emotional problems.”

 

That would align with Obama’s campaign statement that he didn’t want his daughters “punished” with a son or daughter.

 

Fidelis, which has a Catholic-based value system and includes a flagship 501c4 group for lobbying and public education, a political action group, a Center for Law and Policy and the Fidelis Media Fund, has released its research online, calling Ogden an “Obscene Choice.”

 

The report, replete with links to Ogden’s actual court pleadings, confirm he has sought to push homosexuals in the military, extend racial preferences, oppose parental abortion notification, fought the Children’s Internet Protection Act and more.

 

“In all of these cases he has demonstrated a troubling approach to judicial decision-making. Ogden supports a ‘living Constitution’ that changes to fit the latest fad of the intelligentsia,” Fidelis said. “He believes that judges should rely heavily on social science when making decisions, that they should be ‘compassionate’ and partial to ‘suffering’ litigants, that they need not follow the Founders’ intent for the Constitution, and that they should consider ‘worldwide consensus’ and international law when making their decisions.

Of course there are bad people in the world that should not have guns.  Funny thing is, these are also the people MOST LIKELY to ignore any gun laws!

 

So where does that leave the good honest citizen that wishes to “play by the rules” and protect their family?  Well very simply, you will be disarmed and rendered helpless unless you start TO FIGHT FOR YOUR GOD-GIVEN RIGHTS !  Accept no “reasonable” restrictions!

 

…Once you neglect the 2nd Amendment, you will have no mechanism for retaining the others.

 

This is no joke and I am not trying to be dramatic.  The stakes are very high and the push to disarm us is going to begin very soon.

 

The gradual erosion and dismemberment of our Constitution is not fast enough for the Illuminati cabal that seeks to enslave us.

 

Staging “false-flag” terrorist attacks was an effective way to push through Orwellian legislation like the “Patriot Act” but the problem with that is, too many people are waking up to the fraud.

 

So now the preferred method seems to be the orchestrated collapse of the economy, and with the massive increase in street crime, burglaries, and overall malaise, the Govt. can position itself as our “Savior” while enslaving us in the grip of its socialistic “bail-outs’ that ultimately only benefit Wall Street and the bankers.

 

Just remember one thing – in Nazi Germany gun control was complete and total.  In Communist China today gun control is complete and total.  In socialist Europe, gun “ownership” is so neutered through “reasonable” gun laws as to be effectively banned!

Finally, I would like to offer some words of advice for my fellow freedom-loving Americans and loyal readers:

 

If you do not have a gun and ammunition – BUY THEM NOW!

 

If you have nothing;  first buy a .308 caliber semi-automatic magazine fed rifle! Go to your dealer and ask to see a Springfield Armory M1A or an “FAL” type rifle or perhaps a “G3″ type rifle.  These are battle proven .308 caliber (also known as 7.62 x 51mm NATO caliber) rifles that are normally available in the civilian-legal “semi-automatic” configuration.   (Note: You may not find all these choices available to you depending on which state you live in.  If you happen to live in one of the “advanced” socialist states like NJ, California, Illinois or the District of Columbia that already restricts the rights of it’s citizens, my best advice is to MOVE OUT!)

 

.308 is far more powerful than the .223 round used in the AR-15 /M-16 rifles.  If you have the money, buy an AR-15 rifle too.  Buy magazines, spare parts and ammo.  Buy a 12 gauge shotgun and a pistol if you have the funds, (the shotgun is ideal for home defense) and LEARN HOW TO SHOOT!

 

I am a strong advocate of gun ownership.  I can say that in the *MANY YEARS* I have gone to guns shops, gun shows and shopped the internet for guns, parts, accessories, and ammo, I have NEVER SEEN SUCH SCARCITY!

 

Thank-God that hundreds of thousands of law-abiding Americans are waking up to the dangers we face!

 

Since the election of  the ObamaMessiah, gun sales have gone through the roof, especially semi-automatic rifles (the best kind for a patriot to own!)

 

Thirty round magazines for AR rifles are extremely difficult to find, gun shops are out of inventory, prices are going up, and Obama has not even gotten started yet.

 

So *PLEASE* heed my warning – if you care about your rights, and your freedom, educate yourself and BUY NOW!

 

I am not exaggerating when I say that gun shops I have frequented for over ten years have hardly any inventory to sell.  Start now to secure what you need.  Even if you have cash to burn, you may find it is not as easy as you think!

 

So please get active, get informed, and fight on ALL FRONTS!

 

Join a pro 2nd Amendment group, contact your congress-critters and senators, hell even write, email or phone his Lordship; and tell them you will NOT TOLERATE any infringement on your right to own a gun, despite how “reasonable” they think their new laws will be!
