Zuckerman: America’s Love Affair With Obama Is Over

November 6, 2010

It was the worst of times for the Democrats and the best of times for the Republicans—almost.

The GOP did not succeed in capturing the Senate, or dethroning the Democratic leader, but with an energy boost from the Tea Party movement it certainly reflected the anger and dismay of voters who see their country foundering at home and abroad.

The results represent a sharp rebuke to President Obama, who interpreted his 2008 “vote for change” as a mandate for changing everything and all at once.

Right from the start, he got his priorities badly wrong, sacrificing the need to help create jobs in favor of his determination to pass Obamacare.

It was the state of the economy that demanded genius and concentration, and it just did not get it. The president will now have to respond to public anger, not with anger management and, not, please God, with still more rhetoric.

…He came across as a young man in a grown-up’s game—impressive but not presidential. A politician but not a leader, managing American policy at home and American power abroad with disturbing amateurishness.

Indeed, there was a growing perception of the inability to run the machinery of government and to find the right people to manage it. A man who was once seen as a talented and even charismatic rhetorician is now seen as lacking real experience or even the ability to stop America’s decline. “Yes we can,” he once said, but now America asks, “Can he?”

The last two years have exposed to the public the risk that came with voting an inexperienced politician into office at a time when there was a crisis in America’s economy, as the nation contended with a financial freeze, a painful recession, and two wars. The Democrats were simply not aggressive enough or focused enough in confronting the profound economic crisis represented by millions of ordinary Americans whose main concern was the lack of jobs.

Jobs have long represented the stairway to upward mobility in America, and the anxiety over joblessness became the dominant concern at a time when financial security based on home equity and pensions was dramatically eroding. No great speech is going to change the fundamental fact that millions of people are either jobless or underemployed at a time when only a quarter of the American population describes the job market as good.

Why did Obama put his health plan so far ahead of the economy? To do what the Clintons couldn’t? His rush to do it sparked a broad resistance that has only spread since the bill was passed. The public sensed that healthcare was a victory for Obama, and maybe for the Democrats, but not for the country—and contrary to Democratic hopes, public support for the measure has continued to drop to as low as 34 percent in some polls. A significant majority, some 58 percent, now wish to repeal the entire bill, according to likely voters questioned in a late October poll by Rasmussen.

Obama Blames Voters for His Political Failures; Says We’re All Confused and Not Thinking Clearly (Shades of Jimmy Carter!)

October 27, 2010

WASHINGTON – According to President Barack Obama, Americans are angry, frustrated, scared, anxious, uncertain, nervous, discouraged and shaken up.

They’re also confused and not thinking clearly.

Heading into critical midterm elections, Obama has been freely sharing this gloomy diagnosis on the campaign trail, at times sounding more like a psychiatrist than a politician. He usually couples it with a reminder that the country’s been through tough times before and is resilient enough to bounce back, and an appeal to voters to “choose hope over fear.”

Obama’s dreary assessment appears to be an attempt to empathize with voters in a time of acute economic anxiety. It also can serve as an explanation about why voters haven’t embraced his agenda — and why they look poised to deliver a drubbing to Democrats Nov. 2.

Americans would be more supportive of his policies, the president suggests, if they weren’t fettered by anxiety he accuses the GOP of stoking. And the descriptions of angst from a president criticized as overly cerebral and aloof also allow him to attempt to show he feels voters’ pain — even if he can’t cure it.

So the president who campaigned on hope and change now sometimes sounds more like he’s diagnosing depression than offering inspiration.

“People out there are still hurting very badly, and they are still scared,” Obama said recently at a Boston fundraiser. “And so part of the reason that our politics seems so tough right now, and facts and science and argument does not seem to be winning the day all the time, is because we’re hard-wired not to always think clearly when we’re scared.”

Obama’s Popularity Sinks Even Lower…

October 27, 2010

Currently, two-thirds of Americans (67%) have a negative opinion of the job President Obama is doing while just over one-third (37%) have a positive opinion. This continues the president’s downward trend and he is now at the lowest job approval rating of his presidency.

These are some of the results of The Harris Poll of 3,084 adults surveyed online between October 11 and 18, 2010 by Harris Interactive.

It’s perhaps not surprising that nine in ten Republicans (90%) and Conservatives (89%) give the job the president is doing negative ratings. What may be surprising is that one-third of Democrats (34%) and Liberals (33%) also give him negative ratings, as do seven in ten Independents (70%) and six in ten Moderates (60%).

Americans who give the president the highest positive ratings are those with a post-graduate education (48%), a college education (47%), and those living in the West (42%). On the other end of the spectrum, almost three-quarters of those with a high school education or less (72%) and two thirds of Midwesterners (66%) and Southerners (66%) give the President negative marks on his overall job.

While the president is at a low point, there is a political body with ratings much lower than his. Just one in ten Americans (11%) give Congress positive ratings on the job they are doing while nine in ten (89%) give them negative marks. While Congress may be under Democratic control, even four in five Democrats (81%) give them negative ratings.

Poll: Significant Majority of Americans Ready to Give Obama the Boot in 2012

September 27, 2010

A significant majority of voters are considering voting against President Barack Obama in the 2012 election, expressing sour views of his new health care law and deep skepticism about his ability to create jobs and grow the sluggish economy, according to the latest POLITICO/George Washington University Battleground Poll.

Only 38 percent of respondents said Obama deserves to be reelected, even though a majority of voters hold a favorable view of him on a personal level. Forty-four percent said they will vote to oust him, and 13 percent said they will consider voting for someone else.

It’s Obama’s policies that are hurting him right now. By a 13-point margin, voters are down on the health care law. In an especially troubling sign, more than half of self-identified independents — 54 percent — have an unfavorable opinion of the law, compared with just 38 percent who have a favorable opinion.

And by an 11-point margin, voters trust congressional Republicans to create jobs more than Obama. His approval rating stands at 46 percent, according to the poll of 1,000 likely voters, conducted Sept. 19 to Sept. 22.

The tea party movement, which has emerged as the biggest threat to Democrats’ dominance of Washington, is viewed favorably by 43 percent of respondents, compared with 35 percent who view it unfavorably.

Perceptions of the grass-roots activists vary widely by region: In the Northeast, nearly half — 47 percent — have a negative view of the movement, suggesting it could prove to be a drag on GOP candidates in a region where the party has bottomed out in recent years.

But in the eight-state Mountain West region, more than half — 53 percent — have a favorable view of the tea party movement, which could prove helpful to prominent tea-party-backed Senate nominees in Nevada and Colorado.

Why Obama truly is the great jobs killer…

July 6, 2010

It’s time to call Obama what he is: The Great Jobs Killer. With his massive spending and tax hikes — rewarding big government and big unions, while punishing taxpayers and business owners — Obama has killed jobs, he has killed motivation to create new jobs, he has killed the motivation to invest in new businesses, or expand old ones. With all this killing, Obama should be given the top spot on the FBI’s Most Wanted List.

by Wayne Allen Root

Las Vegas Review Journal

As former President Ronald Reagan might have said, “Obama, there you go again.”

The current occupant of the White House claims to know how to create jobs. He claims jobs have been created.

But so far the score is Great Obama Depression 2.2 million lost jobs, Obama 0 — a blowout.

Obama is as hopeless, helpless, clueless and bankrupt of good ideas as the manager of the Chicago Cubs in late September. This “community organizer” knows as much about private-sector jobs as Pamela Anderson knows about nuclear physics.

Meanwhile, he has kept the union workers of GM and Chrysler employed (with taxpayer money). He has made sure that most government employee union members got their annual raises for sleeping on the job (with taxpayer money). He made sure that his voters got handouts mislabeled as “tax cuts” even though they never paid taxes (with taxpayer money). And he made sure that major campaign contributors collected billions off government stimulus (with taxpayer money).

As far as the taxpayers — the people who actually take risks with our own money to create small businesses and jobs and pay most of the taxes — we require protection under the Endangered Species Act.

You won’t find proof of the damage Obama is doing on Wall Street, but rather on Main Street. My friends are all part of the economic engine of America: Small business. Small business creates 75 percent of new jobs (and a majority of all jobs). I called one friend who was a wealthy restaurant owner. He says business is off by 60 percent. He’s drowning in debt. He won’t last much longer. His wealth is gone.

I called another friend in the business of home improvement. He says business is off 90 percent from two years ago. My contractor just filed personal bankruptcy. She won’t be building any more homes. The hair salon where I’ve had my hair cut for years closed earlier this year. Bankrupt. But here’s the clincher — ESPN Zone just closed all their restaurants across the country. If they can’t make it selling cheap food and overpriced beer with 100 big screens blaring every sporting event on the planet to a sports-crazed society, we are all in deep, deep trouble.

I’ve polled all my friends who own small businesses — many of them in the Internet and high-tech fields. They all agree that in this new Obama world of high business taxes, income taxes, payroll taxes, capital gains taxes, and workers compensation taxes, the key to success is to avoid employees. The only way to survive as a business owner today is by keeping the payroll very low and by hiring only independent contractors or part-time employees provided by temp agencies.

The days of jobs in the private sector with big salaries, full benefits, and pensions are over. We’ve all seen where those kinds of jobs get you as a business owner — in Bankruptcy Court or surviving on government welfare like GM and Chrysler. Or in the case of government itself — completely insolvent, but surviving by ripping off taxpayers and fraudulently running printing presses at the Fed all day and night to print money by the trillions.

Unfortunately, small businesses don’t have the power to impose taxes or print money. So unlike government, we’ll just have to cut employees and run lean and mean.

It has now become clear that, outside of the burgeoning field of Census takers, there will be no major increase in new jobs for years to come. Outside government, Obama has created a wasteland of economic ruin and depression that looks much like the landscape of Mel Gibson’s first movie “Mad Max.” Without a printing press in Obama’s world, you’re just plain out of luck.

The days of believing the Obama propaganda about a jobs recovery are over. The trillion-dollar corporate handouts (neatly named “stimulus”) may have kept big business in the money for the past 18 months, and artificially propped up the stock market, but small business is the real canary in the coal mine.

My small business-owning friends aren’t creating one job. Not one. They are shedding jobs. They are learning to do more with fewer employees. They are creating high-tech businesses that don’t need employees. And many business owners are making plans to leave the country. In a high-tech world where businesses can be run from anywhere, Obama has a problem. His one-trick pony — raise taxes, raise taxes, raising taxes — is chasing away the business owners he desperately needs to pay his bills.

So who is going to pay Obama’s taxes? Not his voters. They want government to pay them. Who is going to create Obama’s jobs? Not his voters — they’ve never created a job in their lives.

So what is Obama going to do? Maybe he can get Pamela Anderson on the line.

Obama-messiah’s “Illegal Alien Stimulus Bill”: American Workers Screwed Again As Jobs Money Goes to Illegals

February 14, 2009

barackobama-mexico1Here’s some more of that “Change We Can Believe In.”

Obama-messiah and his Democrat cohorts might as well be big corporate globalist Republican fatcats, as far as the illegal alien issue goes.

After all, it has now been revealed that they have entered into secret negotiations to make sure special provisions of the so-called “stimulus” bill allow American workers to be displaced and illegal aliens to take their place.  And they have stripped the bill of House Republican language designed to stop the jobs money from going to illegals.

Yes, the “stimulus” bill will allow Big Business to use the stimulus money to hire illegal aliens rather than American workers.

Ah…those winds of change are so refreshing, aren’t they?  All hail the Obama-messiah!

— Spencer

P.S.  Be sure to scroll down to the end of the news article and find out how you can call to protest this egregious slam against American workers. Remember, your taxes – and the taxes of your children and their children as far into the future as you can see – will be paying for this so-called “stimulus” bill.  Yet it is illegal aliens who stand to benefit from the jobs provisions.

Democratic Leadership Requires Stimulus Job Access for Illegal Aliens — Secret Negotiations

By Roy Beck, Wednesday, February 11, 2009, 8:58 PM

House Speaker Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Reid and the Obama White House were absolutely certain about one thing for the House/Senate negotiating committee on the Stimulus Bill:  There was to be no special restriction to keep illegal aliens from getting new jobs created by the bill at a cost of $250,000 to $500,000 each.

The Democratic leadership of our federal government made it clear that there has been no change from eight years of a Republican White House that let the Chamber of Commerce call the shots on immigration.

Pelosi, Reid and Obama gave the U.S. Chamber of Commerce exactly what it wanted — freedom for unscruplous businesses to continue to hire illegal aliens at the same rate as in the past, and to use the hundreds of billions of Stimulus dollars to do it.

Rep. Calvert (R-Calif.) was the one who inserted E-Verify language into the Stimulus Bill in the House Appropriations Committee. Tonight, he stated the sad betrayal of the American workers. His words take on a partisan tone. As a studiously non-partisan organization, NumbersUSA is uncomfortable when issues are stated in partisan ways. But in this case, there is no question but that the national Democratic leadership sold out the interests of the American working man and woman.

Tonight, behind closed doors with no input from House Republicans, Speaker Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Reid crafted the so-called compromise on the stimulus bill.  What we now know is that while billions of American taxpayer dollars are going to be spent, there is no assurance that the jobs created will go to American workers.  The two amendments that had been accepted by the House Appropriations Committee were stripped without discussion or debate.

— Rep. Ken Calvert of California

The House of Representatives had included two provisions in its Stimulus bill to make sure that the huge sums of money would create jobs only for legally authorized workers. One provision reauthorized the current voluntary E-Verify program which expires March 6. The other required local government or business receiving stimulus funds to run their new hires through the electronic 99.5%-accurate E-Verify system.  There were no publicly stated objections to this.

But the U.S. Senate repeatedly brushed aside Alabama Sen. Sessions’ efforts to introduce the same protections into its Stimulus bill.

When the House and Senate negotiators sat down, the leader of the House, Rep. Pelosi, tossed aside the will of the Members of the House of Representatives and did the bidding of the most unscrupulous businesses of America.

The American people have repeatedly voiced their support for employment verification and yet we find that once again special interests win out.  The one candle in the darkness of this disastrous bill was the reauthorization and requirements to use E-Verify.  Now all we are left is a bill that places illegal immigrant interests above those of hard working American families and leaves the bill at the foot of future generations.

— Rep. Calvert

Furthermore, Pelosi, Reid and Obama also demanded the stripping of the one protection that had been included by the Senate.

Sen. Sanders of Vermont and Sen. Grassley of Iowa had gotten unanimous approval in the Senate to include language that bailed-out banks could no longer be allowed to fire American workers and replace them with foreign workers.

Pelosi, Reid and Obama made sure that banks can continue to discriminate against Americans in favor of cheaper more compliant foreign workers.

Friends, this is an injustice that will come to plague the perpetrators as time moves on.

But the extent to which the U.S. Chamber of Commerce can continue to call the shots on using illegal foreign workers and importing additional authorized foreign workers will depend on how hard each of you reading this will work to spread this story in every newspaper, talk show and website.

These closed-door affronts to fair-play and compassion were executed because the leaders believed they will get by with it…. because they believe the American people are too tired, too dispirited and too baffled by the complexity of the trillions of dollars of bail-outs to hold their leaders accountable.

I hope you will use our free fax-sending system to make your opinions known.

The negotiated Stimulus Bill is expected to come to a vote in the House and Senate this week and then go to Pres. Obama for his signature by next Monday.

Pelosi delaying House Stimulus vote — Phone calls still have chance for miracle on E-Verify

The outcry against the devious, secretive and undemocratic way that the conference Stimulus Bill was negotiated has led to House Speaker Pelosi putting the House vote off until Friday.

Even though Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Reid and the Obama White House have made it clear that they will not accept any limitations on illegal aliens in the Stimulus Bill, there remains an outside chance that your phone calls this afternoon could tip the balance somewhere.

Long-time NumbersUSA members know that we never give up as long as there is any chance at all.

The people who most need calls are Democratic Senators and these 3 Republican Senators: Snowe (R-Maine), Collins (R-Maine) and Specter (R-Penn.)

If any two of those 61 Senators will tell Sen. Reid that they won’t vote for the Stimulus without an E-Verify protection of American workers, we will get the protection.

Phone with these key points:

“Although the Senator has made it clear that he/she will vote for the Stimulus Bill, he/she has the power to slow down the process long enough to correct a huge injustice in the Conference Report.”

“Please tell Sen. Reid that your Senator will not be able to vote for the bill until the bill clarifies that jobs created by the Stimulus must go to American workers and others who are legally authorized to work in this country.”

“I am sure the Senator does not want this bill he/she has created to spend this precious money hiring illegal foreign workers. Please decline to pass the bill until the E-Verify protections passed by the House are put back in.”

Jobs Advisor to Obama-messiah says “White males need not apply”

January 29, 2009

He hasn’t even been in office a few days, and all of that talk about “We Are One” is right out the window.

All of the stupid white males (and females for that matter) who voted for Obama-messiah are now going to find out what “Change we can believe in” really meant.

According to Obama-messiah’s chief economic advisor Robert Reich, it means your skin color is either going to be your ticket to government largesse (if you’re an unskilled, victim-mentality welfare minority) or your ticket to grinding poverty and unemployment (if you’re the family of an out-of-work, skilled white laborer).

Things are almost always the exact opposite of what they appear to be.  Everybody thought that Obama-messiah was going to help make this nation a place where all races could come together in color-blind harmony and sing “We Are the World.”

But what Lord Obama has in mind is quite different than what dumb white bleeding heart liberal darlings thought.  Instead of a color-blind utopia, Obama-messiah is going to make this nation a place where his own kind (victim-mentality minorities) come to the front of the line, and everybody else (particularly out-of-work skilled white males and their families) can just sit on a stick at the back of the bus, and spin.

As Michelle Malkin puts it in the article below, under Obama-messiah the wealth (read: your taxpayer money) is going to be spread out solely to those with the right “chromosomes and (skin) pigment.”

In other words, victim-mentality minorities get the goods, and skilled white labor gets the proverbial “wish sandwich.”  (What’s a wish sandwich?  As the infamous Blues Brothers once explained in the song Rubber Biscuit, “A wish sandwich is where you have two slices of bread, and you wish you had some meat.”)

I’m sorry.  But everybody – and by that I mean everybody but the victim-mentality welfare class —  who sat around whining about how much they “hate Bush” is going to find out just how truly good they had it under Bush.  They have no idea what’s coming down the pike.  In six or eight or nine more months, they won’t give a damn about whether or not the U.S. “waterboards” terrorists at the detention center in Guantanamo Bay, or whether the FBI listens in on overseas phone calls.  It will be the furthest thing from their minds, because, as Obama-messiah’s chief economic advisor Robert Reich and liberal Rep. Charles Rangel point out in the article below, they will be too busy scrambling to put food on the table and find school clothes for their children.

Idiot white liberals are expecting utopia because they elected a self-described “victim” to the highest office of the land.  Now they are about to learn what happens when so-called “victims” rule.  Unfortunately, the rest of us now have to put up with it, too.  That’s okay.  It’s no big step for a stepper. But is sure pisses me off that we have to go through this so dumb white liberals can finally learn a lesson.

Obama adviser: White males need not apply

Robert Reich tells House panel stimulus package should emphasize ‘social return’ over worker skill

Obama economic adviser Robert Reich

A top economic adviser to President Obama has told a congressional panel the billions of dollars in the proposed economic stimulus plan should be allocated with social issues in mind, to make sure the money doesn’t go to just “white male construction workers” or the highly skilled.

Robert Reich, who served as labor secretary under President Clinton, was speaking to the House Steering and Policy Committee Jan. 7 about funding infrastructure projects across the nation.

“It seems to me that infrastructure spending is a very important and good way of stimulating the economy. The challenge will be to do it quickly, to find projects that can be done that will have a high social return, that also can be done with the greatest speed possible,” Reich said.

“I am concerned, as I’m sure many of you are, that these jobs not simply go to high skilled people who are already professionals or to white male construction workers,” he said.

Reich’s statements were highlighted in a video by NakedEmporerNews, which is embedded here: http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=86827

The hearing took place two weeks before Obama was inaugurated.

“I have nothing against white male construction workers,” Reich said. “I’m just saying there are a lot of other people who have needs as well.

“There are ways in which the money can be, criteria can be set so the money does go to others, the long term unemployed, minorities, women,” he said.

Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., appeared to agree, suggesting federal money be directed to specific groups of people.

The federal government, he said, must “remove the discretion” about where the funds go, or what projects would be involved, even to the point of eliminating any input from governors or state legislatures.

Reich agreed: “Governors ought to be, should be given a choice of signing on the bottom line or not.”

Then Rangel noted the “middle class” would be unlikely to create any opposition to funds directed to minorities.

“One thing that you can depend on, you don’t have to be worried about what the middle class is going to do. Things are so bad, they have to put food on their tables, get clothes for their kids, get them in school,” he said.

Commentator Michelle Malkin said Reich’s statements expose “the lie that the Obama administration is actually interested in revitalizing basic infrastructure for the good of the economy.”

“No, what Team Obama really wants is to ensure that the least skilled, least qualified workers get jobs based on their chromosomes and pigment,” she said.

Malkin cited Reich’s own blog, where the Obama adviser wrote of the economic stimulus plan: “I’d suggest that all contracts entered into with stimulus funds require contractors to provide at least 20 percent of jobs to the long-term unemployed and to people with incomes at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level.”

This, Malkin wrote, is “spoken like a true-blue wealth redistributor. The ‘needs’ (read: demands) of politically protected minorities trump the need for competently build roads and bridges.”

On his blog, Reich makes his case for, “The Stimulus: How to Create Jobs Without Them All Going to Skilled Professionals and White Male Construction Workers.”

“At least 2 percent of project funds should be allocated to such training. In addition, advantage should be taken of buildings trades apprenticeships — which must be fully available to women and minorities,” he wrote.

Race already has become an issue several times in the Obama administration.

As WND reported, Democratic Party strategist Donna Brazile admitted she swiped Obama’s complimentary blanket from his inauguration ceremony and then joked it was not a criminal offense because, “We have a black president … this was free.”

Outrage also erupted over the inauguration benediction by Rev. Joseph Lowery, the 87-year-old civil rights pioneer, for asking God to help mankind work for a day when “white would embrace what is right.”

Obama reacted to the benediction with a smile.
